Plus the Mayor and residents really condemned the actions of that one minor incident, security increased and LAPD now has a bigger presence there than always before (I went to LA for the Thunder-Laker series with some friends). So they take taken steps to turn information technology into a nice classy expanse.

The problem with the Coliseum and Oakland riots in general is that they are actually "celebrated" every bit part of being RAIDERS NATION, so there is a cool cistron for many fans and residences, which is why the rioting is more common and pervasive in Oakland compared to LA, or NY, or other large sports towns. Next to the coliseum, there is nothing. Just industrial companies, trucking companies, and graffiti.

It'south really ridiculous and makes the whole Coliseum unsafe IMO.

the idea that sports riots are unique to or more than prelevant in oakland is absurd

vancouver had 2 very destructive riots in a 7 year period

"RCMP were called in to subdue the crowd believed to number at least 50,000. More than than 200 people were injured, the most serious being a teenager who was shot in the head by constabulary with a safe bullet and suffered permanent brain damage."

also united states university sports riots are routine
here are only a FEW

University of Maryland – April 1-2, 2002

A nighttime of bonfires, looting, drunken brawls, flying beer bottles and hundreds of troopers in anarchism gear acquired roughly $50,000 in amercement. The rioting was so bad, university officials later on established a cypher tolerance anti-rioting rule, meaning a student could be expelled if defenseless in acts of vandalism or violence later games.
Maryland, who has a history of rioting, had a similar anarchism a year earlier in a Final Four loss to Knuckles, when a bonfire set by fans caused $500,000 in damage. Rowdy fans smashed out storefronts, attacked police, and set fire to a mobile home.

Iowa State University – April 17-18, 2004

Police and virtually two,000 rioters clashed until almost 5:30am. Lamp posts, street signs, parking meters and many storefront windows were damaged or destroyed. 16 officers and 22 civilians suffered injuries, some due to falling lamp posts. 37 arrests were made, including attack of an officeholder, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. The dark ended with nearly $250,000 in damages to public and private property

Ohio State University – Nov 23, 2002
That night in Columbus was a war zone: people were flipping cars over and lighting them on fire, uprooting copse and ripping doors off of houses to fuel the fires, and tear gas was beingness dispersed everywhere while the oversupply was being shot at with safe bullets.

Michigan Land University - March 27, 1999
cars were turned over and burned, 61 fires were set, trees were uprooted and traffic signs were destroyed. Approximately 130 people were convicted for their involvement in the riot, two existence charged with arson. Actions from the chaotic night caused more than than $500,000 in damages.

It is absurd.

But there is no denying that at that place is a "Raider'south Nation" sub civilisation that tends to drift towards violence and rioting, and information technology has made going to Raider'south games a hassle, if not unsafe as per the anecdotal stories y'all see posted here.

It's kind of hard to believe someone and their "experiences" when they brand up stories about there being "riots" at the Coliseum.

To be honest, I don't call up the info is even required. Most people know what they are dealing with when it comes to Raider's games. A lot of fans actually like "Raider'due south Nation"
